Streets Are Filled With Strays

Description

I'll wait here,
You're crazy,
Those viscous streets are filled with strays.
You should've never gone to Hollywood.

They find you,
Two-time you,
Say you're the best they've ever seen.
You should've never trusted Hollywood.

Lost in Hollywood - System of a Down

I'm gonna let you guys in on a secret. When I draw things like this where you'd figure I was trying to say something deep or whatever... most of the time, they aren't planned. At all. I just draw it because I want to. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I can look at this and tell you I was merely inspired by the tone of a song.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes I do actually plan my images (like Associated by Force and Associated by Need), but most of the time they just happen. A lot of the time, I don't have a meaning or a deeper message in my work until after I've drawn it, and that's when I step back, look at what I've drawn, and try to interpret it.

I kind of enjoy that I work this way (while it also rather frustrates me), because then there really is no right way to interpret my work. You can look at it and MAKE it mean something to you.

So, I guess... interpret away? I'd be interested in hearing what you guys take from this, because I honestly have no idea at this point.

Edit: Updated the image so it looks more like how I originally imagined it to look in my head. Not 100% happy with it but oh well, I did the best I could. And now by black pencil is dead.

Oooh this looks really nice!! o:
I really like the coloring in this one. Especially on his hair, the sort of blood effect, and the black surroundings. Too lazy to listen to the song right now lol, but the message seems pretty strong, even if that wasn't your intention. And I like how you chose Marik to play the scene out. Very nice work!! :+favlove:
